This Joke Is Not Funny (updated)

You've likely heard by now that Heath Ledger was found dead today, 1/22/08. I don't mean to be ghoulish, and it is certainly too early to in any way speculate the cause of death, but this is an alarm bell moment. There are two films that are scheduled for future release featuring Ledger, and there's a weird twist of synchronicity between them. Let me state again that this is a total tragedy that I do not mean to make light of, he was only 28 years old and the father of a two year old daughter. No foul play seemed to be involved. He apparently did have a substance abuse problem, at least at one time. He may have been suffering from pneumonia. The description of the scene sounds like a suicide but there is no clear indication of that until the autopsy tomorrow. So unlike my normal posts I write this with no pleasure whatsoever.

It is big news that Ledger portrayed the Joker in next Spring's "The Dark Knight", the much anticipated sequel to "Batman Begins". I'm sure I'm not alone in finding this disturbing and ominous on some indecipherable level. Entertainment Weekly has already stated, "No one will be able to watch [The Dark Knight] without seeing unintended ironies and eerie portents of doom".

Photobucket

Here's what wikipedia says about Ledger and the role:

"the Joker, whom the actor described as a "psychopathic, mass murdering, schizophrenic clown with zero empathy". Nolan had wanted to work with Ledger on a number of projects in the past, but had been unable to do so. When Ledger saw Batman Begins, he realized a way to make the character work in that film's tone, and Nolan agreed upon his anarchic interpretation. To prepare for the role he lived alone in a hotel room for a month, formulating the character's posture, voice and psychology. While he initially found it difficult, Ledger was eventually able to generate a voice which did not sound like Jack Nicholson's take on the character in Tim Burton's 1989 Batman film. He started a diary, in which he wrote the Joker's thoughts and feelings to guide himself during his performance. He was also given Batman: The Killing Joke and Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth to read, which he "really tried to read [...] and put it down". Ledger also cited inspiration in A Clockwork Orange and Sid Vicious. Ultimately, "there’s nothing that [is] consistent", as his main objective was to frighten the audience. The challenge of the role put a strain on Ledger's sleep patterns, finding himself unable to rest for more than a few hours each night."

The other Ledger film is just as evocative, "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" from Terry Gilliam, scheduled for release in 2009. By the same screen writer as Gilliam's films "Brazil" and "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen". It is the story of a traveling theater troupe who make a deal with the devil and lead audience members on a tour of another world through a Magic Mirror. Here's a production still:

It is hard to see the ornamentation above the stage, but I believe that's Shakespeare who, no matter your opinion on the conspiracy theory, at the very least resonates with Francis Bacon. Then to left and right are what appear to me to be black and white striped chariots bearing torch wielding gods and goddesses, drawn by peacocks. The peacock is associated with Hera/Juno, one of the more ominous manifestations of the Goddess. I also heard on the news today that "Juno" is the dark horse runner for Best Picture in the upcoming Oscars, a weird coincidence.

Gilliam was a member of Monty Python. How strange then that the troupe twice produced the sketch "The Funniest Joke in the World", also known as "Joke Warfare" and "The Killing Joke". See JB's article The Killing Joke for another dark synchronicity at play.

This poster creeps me out now. Batman as the grim reaper. There's certainly going to be much discussed on this subject as details are released and the underlying symbolism of the many faces of the Joker and Batman are explored.

Update:

In the comments JB directed to me to some photos of Ledger from Doctor Parnassus posted at the forums of David Icke.com. The image speaks for itself:

Photobucket

Ledger as the Hanged Man, a Tarot card of dark portent equaled only by The Lightning Struck Tower. Note the bloody symbols on his forehead, particularly the Illuminati All-Seeing Eye in Pyramid over his pineal gland/third eye. Absolutely chilling. His white tuxedo too reminds me of the black to white shift of the tuxedos worn by the Time Bandits, another Gilliam movie, when they passed into "The Time of Legends", an Otherworld serving as the residence of Evil (see Inside the Map of the Universe).

As we discover the dark aspect of the Goddess underlying this event the punning behind this "The Dark Knight" promotional poster takes on new significance. Sirius is intimately associated with the goddess Isis.

Why so, Sirius?

"Bottles of the generic forms of Xanax and Valium, both anti-anxiety drugs prescribed in his name, were found in the house, according to law-enforcement sources. The sleeping drug Ambien was also found near his body, sources said. The maid said she last heard the star snoring around noon".
I read somewhere else that he was taking all these drugs because he was only sleeping 2 hours a night. He was having nightmares and anxiety from Becoming this "joker" character.
This is where it gets too weird, my friend (he's rich, I'm poor) lives at 427 Broome st. Its literally same side of the street, few doors down. I was just at my friend's house on Sat this past weekend. How's that for 6 degrees of separation?

Adam Star said...

That is eerie. You'll have a first hand view of the memorial shrine at his doorstep. It seems at this point that his method acting technique to become the Joker at least partially led to depression, disorientation and, the biggie, the insomnia. Sleeping no more then two hours a night for too long is a fast route to mental and emotional problems. Without knowing yet the results of the autopsy, I am still willin to say that Ambien is dangerous and should be taken off the market.

Odd that Christopher Nolan, director of The Dark Knight, also did the remake of Insomnia.

The Joker from playing cards correlates to the Fool Trump of Tarot, which I talked about a little in my Marvel Alchemy post.

Adam Star said...

If you haven't yet, read the Looking Into Dark Places post on this matter Heath Ledger for the underlying numerology involved. Very strange is the fact that Jan. 22 is the birthday of Francis Bacon, who I mention in this article, and Robert E. Howard, who I mentioned in Marvel Alchemy.

Tough stuff, when someone full of promise dies so young. Acting, if one is serious about it, is a difficult life, half the time spent encouraging strongly negative emotions which are false, and the other half spent discouraging strongly negative emotions which are true. Just wanted to comment here that your reference to the Funniest Joke In The World sent a chill down my spine -- which is good, I should feel a shock when a person dies before their time, we all should -- and also that the idea of Batman as a Death Avatar is of course not new (or surprising), and strangely none other than Dave Campbell made that one of his very first posts, an essay on Batman, fear, death, Freud, etc., which I still think is rather good.

I ordinarily don't do online comments on the deaths of people I didn't personally know, but I thought this post was both good, and respectful. And probably said what a lot of people were thinking. And it also sent that so-valuable chill down my spine, so.

Thanks plok and Vapo. Apparently the autopsy is inconclusive and it will be ten days or so before further toxicology and tissue tests shed more light on the matter. Thanks for the lead on Dave Campbell's Batman analysis, I'll read it as I have time. It is located here at Dave's Long Box.

Thanks for the link, Adam, and I have just written a new article on my sight precisely about Heath Ledger's death, entitled "The Joker is dead, long live the Joker".

Here's the kicker (read the article anyway): The Joker was the Beast (as I had suggested in previous posts and comments), and on the day he (Heath) died, the world economy was dying, freefalling as well. The world economy is Isis ($), the Scarlet Woman. Both the Beast and the Scarlet Woman dead or dying on the same day. A-maze-ing.

Adam Star said...

Truth is indeed stranger than fiction. Every story you've ever heard is true, I'm afraid. Even in the short time since this tragedy occurred, the (in the words of Jake Kotze) synch winks are overwhelming. Beyond strange to outright disturbing given . So strange that Ledger cited "A Clockwork Orange" as an ingredient in his Joker portrayal. This combines with magic mirrors, Jungian symbolism, Juno/Hera, deals with the devil, pharmacology, and Tarot cards to make a very dark soup I don't think anyone wants to ingest, but we're going to have to anyway. This event is indeed a bad omen no matter how you look at it. There's something going on here.

There's a Japanese musician that goes by the one-word name of "Heath" in the band "X Japan" and his birthday is January 22.

JB said...

Did you see those pictures of Heath from "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" over at the David Icke Forum ("Today's News" forum, "Heath Ledger found dead" thread")?

Heath literally playing the hanged-man, with the Illuminati pyramid and other occult symbols drawn on his forehead in blood!

Adam Star said...

Oh man, that's chilling. Thanks for the lead. It doesn't get any more blatant then that. I'm going to edit my article for this important factor. When I last went to the movies, to see "National Treasure: Book of Secrets" I was struck by the "Dark Knight" "Why so serious?" advert in the lobby. I guess we got the answer to that question, but it merely leads to more questions, and answers perhaps we don't want to hear. Thanks JB.

This write-up about the upcoming film, The Dark Knight, says the point of the film is that things have to get worse before they can get better. The "Clown Prince" is said to be based on the first appearances of his character in Batman comics. Notably, he escapes from prison in "The Joker Returns" by igniting explosive chemicals hidden inside his false teeth. If that last detail makes it into The Dark Knight it will be very interesting, considering Heath (candy bar) Ledger's "Candy" and (Brokeback) Mountain connections.

Adam Star said...

Damn, it just now occurs to me how significant Grant Morrison's "Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth" is in all of this. It was one of the works cited by Ledger as something to study for his role. There's the implication in his statement that he couldn't read it, seemingly because the novel was too disturbing. it is extremely dark.

The graphic novel is full of Jungian symbolism, and includes an interesting treatment of the duality obsessed Batman villain Two-Face (a character who apparently plays a role in "The Dark Knight" in his pre-Two-Face identity as D.A. Harvey Dent). Two-Face is presented as being weaned away from his coin-flipping decision making in stages by being given oracular items with a broader array of outcomes. In the story he had been worked up to Tarot cards.
A Sirius House on Sirius Earth. Arkham of course refers to the works of Lovecraft.

Amazing insights Just Me. My mind spins as all these factors come together.

The Dark Knight is set for release on July 18: Hunter S. Thompson's birthday, the day Ted Kennedy drove his car off the bridge on Chappaquiddick Island, the day of the 1984 McDonald's massacre, the day Gemini 10 was launched in '66, and Red Skelton's (the clown) birthday, as well as a large number of notable weather and other natural disaster events.

If Heath Ledger's death is trying to tell us something, then his first notable role as "Gabriel" (or messenger) in Mel Gibson's 9/11-forecasting film "The Patriot" is telling.

As for that duality issue and Harvey Dent, here is a summary of the viral marketing campaign for The Dark Knight.

Normally I delight in the synchromystic process following a post. In this instance I'm growing increasingly disturbed. These patterns are undeniable. Anonymous, thank you for those amazing insights. Readers of Goro Adachi will be fascinated by this video of Heath Ledger on Ellen Degenerous's show. About 2/3 of the way in, he juggles oranges while competing in an Olympic event with Ellen, complete with her torch logo in the foreground.

Just Me said...

Upon learning Heath was named for the character Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights, I was very disturbed by this:

"Heathcliff's parentage is never solved. He is described by Hindley as an 'imp of Satan' in chapter four, and by the end of the novel Nelly Dean is entertaining notions that Heathcliff may be some hideous ghoul or vampire."

I'd say "imp of Satan" or "hideous goul" is an apt description of the Joker. Also, Heath was considered for a role in "Interview with the Vampire," which was directed by the same guy that directed Heath in "Ned Kelly" and who directed "The Crying Game" - the "Brokeback Mountain" of a little older generation.

The word "wuthering" is a Yorkshire word referring to turbulent weather - hearkening to anonymous's post above about major weather events having occurred on the same date as the release of "The Dark Knight."

I think anonymous's reference to the McDonald's massacre is also interesting - Ronald McDonald is a clown, and who would expect his place to be the scene of a massacre? It's yet another macabre clown combination.

That hanged man photo is one of the freakiest things I've ever seen.

Adam Star said...

The Satan/devil thing in this is positively overwhelming. I bet they'll never release Doctor Parnassus. Every one of the anonymus points are apt, some very startling. Gilliam directed "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas". The Ronald McDonald thing slipped by me till you mentioned it, now that you mention it, man, it's unreal. 1984 is of course a major symbol of dystopia. The Gemini program ties in to the weird duality factor.

The "Wuthering Heights" thing too is stunning. Named after Heathcliff, and his familiar name repeats it, Heath Ledger, not just a notebook, but one who stands on a ledge.

Adam Star said...

The 33 in 3:30 too, like Landlubber points out, a major Secret Society fingerprint, if a coincidence then a freaky one. The orange juggling, from Goro Adachi's amazing work. Oranges can be read as golden apples, major, major Goddess symbolism, Erisian even. Coupled with the torch? Uncanny.

The Accidental Philosopher said...

I don't pretend to be educated about many of the nuances addressed here, but I will say this. I don't think anyone can be a great actor unless he allows himself to swim in the same waters as his characters. Great acting, is simply allowing oneself to tap into the collective emotional cauldron of humanity and channel the appropriate feelings. The Actor allow himself to be feel his own darkness, or pain, or whatever it is in order to really be a vessel for something extraordinary.

Heath showed that he could do that in Monster's Ball and Brokeback Mountain. He was stunning. It seems to me that his gift opened a door that he was unable to close.

Perhaps.

TAP, I couldn't agree more. His pure talent is apparent even in lesser known roles like "The Brother's Grim", again directed by Terry Gilliam. What's disturbing me most of all maybe is that this channel he opened is one associated with what has for the most part been a cartoon character in the public consciousness. But the Joker is disturbing and was at his conception, despite more innocuous or hammy portrayals by Cesar Romero or Jack Nicholson.

Last update I heard, the evidence suggests an accidental death rather then a suicide. While the initial reports indicated the presence of Ambien, it is not now listed amongst the prescription medications found in his apartment. The sleeping med Lunesta was found. It does not share the somnabulistic side effects of Ambien and is considered safer for long time use. Also found were Valium, Xanax and Ativan. We all know about Valium, fairly innocuous in normal dosage. Xanax is for treatment of depression and has many disturbing side effects including loss of inhibitions, hallucinations and amnesia. It is also highly addictive.

What disturbs me even more is the Ativan. I guess it's being commonly prescribed to treat insomnia and anxiety now. It has a laundry list of negative side effects, including disinhibition, increased suicidality, and amnesic effects. Amnesia, blocking short term memory, is one of its chief actions. I have personal experience with this drug as a sedative delivered during multi-hour chemotherapy treatments. It was explained to me that it was given to make the time go by. For me it didn't do that so much, merely made me feel highly disoriented. It is not a nice drug.

All of these medications, to me, just a lay person, seems a highly dangerous and potentially contradictory cocktail. There is still debate over whether or not Ledger had a drug problem. I think its pretty clear he did, drugs are drugs, legal and prescribed or not. Our society has a drug problem of massive proportions.

Gemini/twins/duality is further involved due to the involbement of Mary Kate Olsen, a neighbor, and the individual called even prior to 911.

Eiregrl73 said...

You know, you just made me consider this. our culture has so little space for the dark spaces of humanity. if you're not upbeat and happy and productive, you're basically fucked. we live in a consistently caffeinated culture of go-getters. darkness and depression are not socially acceptable states.

i think that human nature is not all that different from plant nature. A flowering tree is only flowering for a few months out of the year, yet an equal number is spent in virtual hibernation, with all its resources pulled inward. it withdraws into its root system, collecting resources for the following year. for all outward appearances it's dead, but it's actually doing the work necessary to glean the strength required to bear fruit the next year.

i believe that depression is the human equivalent of this. we NEED to be able to pull inward, reconnect with God and be silent for a while. our culture leaves no space for this.

thus, so many people think they're crazy.

Looking back at Heath Ledger's career it's so filled with portents of death his own seems practically inevitable.

Who's next? Ledger followed on Brad Renfro.

Adam Star said...

The Mary Kate Olsen Gemini aspect is very weird. And the death of Brad Renfro, another tragedy, and one that received much less media attention then Heath Ledger, I suppose due to the Oscar nomination and the prominence of his roles. And I guess Renfro's history makes his passing less of a shock.

Like my mother always says, this is the wrong planet to be famous on.

I agree with eiregrl73's observation. It is normal and healthy to feel negative emotions. We've evolved to feel these emotions. Some things should make us sad. Our society seems to want to make these normal emotional states a pathology. Of course if depression becomes crippling it needs to be addressed. But these mood altering drugs are tampering with a very delicate neural-chemistry system we barely understand at best.

Thanks for all the great comments and insights. Time to return to lighter fare.

RIP Heath Ledger.

Secret Sun said...

Given the Joker sync, I might mention that Ledger's death follows three months after that of Killing Joke bassist Paul Raven, the band who basically created the modern image of the Joker, uncredited by anyone of course.

Did anyone mention that Ledger died on a full moon?

Adam Star said...

The Killing Joke is a great band, and certainly influential on Alan Moore's "Killing Joke" which shaped conceptions of the character ever after. Sad news. So strange too, the name Paul Raven given the Crow aspect of this story as discussed in the comments at the Meta-Logic Cafe. In that Ellen clip, during a bobsledding skit, Ledger is attacked by a crow for no reason whatsoever. The clip ends with DeGeneres announcing a performance by Sheryl Crow coming up next. Very weird.

The full moon may be more material in this matter then even meets the eye. I know that as an insomnia sufferer that my sleep is total rap during periods around the full moon, like these last few days.

Thanks Chris, amazing insight as always.

Adam Star said...

Trying to move on to a lighter topic but this story has a ertain inescapable gravity. I rewatched "Batman Begins" last night (I must have seen it now a half dozen times) and noticed a subtle costuming detail of Cillian Murphy's Scarecrow. See the noose around his neck?

Secret Sun said...

Scarecrow? There's your crow/raven again. Another stream at work is the Anglo/Irish stream, quite possibly one of the most powerful intersections esoterically- see Crowley, Maud Gonne, Theosophy, Golden Dawn, etc and embodied in the Anglo/Irish Christopher Nolan.

And Oz too through the Scarecrow, now resonating with Nightcrawler through Alan Cummings playing both roles in X2 and Tin Man.

Be sure to check out Chris' new article Up From the Underground for more on the connection between the band Killing Joke, the work of Alan Moore and how it all relates to this sad, tabloid affair.

Adam Star said...

The other side of the Mary Kate Olsen aspect of this story, that just occurs to me, is that she and her twin sister became famous, grew up on, the show 'Full House'. This is a dark synchronicity given the playing card motif of the Joker. No matter what is at play here, there's this underlying exposure of dark currents under seemingly light fare like bad sitcoms, comics and cartoons, and comedy skits like the work of Monty Python. Which is exactly what the Joker character is all about, and a device common to horror fiction. But this isn't fiction. New material on the underling symbolism and influences on the Joker coming soon.

The comments about Mr Ledger on this blog prove to me that syncro mysticism is the only way to interpet many current events. It is freaking spot on in all aspects. Im surprised to find these great thoughts on here, especially some of you had noticed, that Ronald McDonald is hanging out with kids, he especially loves the sick ones in hospital, while he takes care of their parents in Ronald mcDonald houses world wide...he might be lurking for a kid's soul. Im working on a big article bout the Joker/Ledger case (sinde days now) and there's way more to it.. Cool, looking forward to it. Ronald McDonald is nothing but creepy, comforting sick kids with one hand, making kids sick with the other. Until then I can recommend you to the book "Mysterious America" by Loren Coleman, who has written about the weird american clowns that showed up like Men in Black and tried to catch children in the States. Also to the book "The Trickster and the paranormal" by George Hansen. The clown is a trickster, he is definately connected to the Ufo phenomenon and all other weird paranormal things. Theres connection to Harry Potter, freemasonry, Bigfoot, occultism, Mythology, Religion, Demons, Celtic beliefs and so on. Also thinking about human sacrifices and cattle mutilations. Today I was watching Brokeback Mountain for the first time and I can't see anything special about that movie, other than I noticed a sort of clumsy acting Ledger (by strange motion)and some rodeo clowns around. Wikipedia says:

"A rodeo clown is a rodeo performer who works on bull riding contests. Historically the primary job of the rodeo clown is to protect the rider from the bull after he dismounts or is bucked off, by distracting the bull and providing alternative targets for the bull to chase. Additionally, bull fighters may improve the bull rider's score by turning a bull back that runs down the arena (e.g., by grabbing his horn or getting the bull to follow him while the rider is on his back). Rodeo clowns also provide traditional clowning entertainment for the crowd between rodeo events, often parodying aspects of cowboy culture."

I found it somewhat disturbing, that this movie contained clowns already. But then again, Ledger started in the australian tv show "clowning around" - as a "Harry Potter" for clowning - for the clown has obvious stalked him lifelong. You'd think it to be a coincidence that the clown potters about Harry, Darry, Derry?
Sincerely, Corinna/ Germany

Here is my myspace entry:
Here is my article about Heath Ledger, the Joker, and the Clowns weirdos:
http://www.ufos-co.de/news_artikel/htdocs/modules/news/article.php?storyid=1413

The first and second part about weirdo Clowns, from october and november 2007 can be seen here:

http://www.ufos-co.de/news_artikel/htdocs/modules/news/article.php?storyid=1221
The articles are in german language - but maybe a translation program (such as bablefish) may help a little - although the translations do sound somewhat strange ;)

Ledger is an outstanding example for the Trickster phenomenon. The Clown (joker, fool, jester, harlekin..) is a trickster, and a demon. The phenomenons we deal with are, at least thats my opinion, all demonic.

Through different little tracks and name-games (so labeled by the researcher Loren Coleman) - we find the Ledger case connected to occult phenomenons, such as the Trickster- and UFO phenomenon (Don Ledger), the dark things and death as in Emily Brontes "Wuthering hights", Fairies and Elfs who are childeating creatures, the green dressed devil Pan, the alien love-bite phenomenon (alien orchestred relationships, Eve Lorgen), Robin Hood - who is Robin Goodfellow a phooka and demonic figure -, Pennywise (Derry), the Derry/ Ireland shootings on Bloody Sunday, a clowning Matrix-kinda simulation, Witches, black magic rituals, Daniel Radcliffe and Harry Potter and a worldwide spreading clown that watches over children organisations such as red nose day and children hospices, angels who are demons, old Ireland legends, the death of Brandon Lee (The Crow), the Death of Anna Niole Smith, Hannibal Lecter and serialkiller Maudsley, Madeleine McCann, Freemasonry and symbols, Human Sacrifices, Men in Black, Bigfoot, School Massacres - such as Columbine or Jokela/Finland, Obsession, Sirius, Mothman and Fallen Angels, Synchronicities, Tarot - The hanged man, Murder...

Heath Ledger does NOT show a pattern, or a paranormal law, but a evil-funny game, thats played on us.
Ill hopefully come up with a sum up translation, some time ..sooner or later..maybe later ;)

Cool, thanks Corinna. A little hard to follow in some places due to imperfect translation, but some amazing correlations, enough to make your head spin. I'm very struck by your reminder that Robin refers to Robin Goodfellow, who is Puck/Pan, no small detail, and indeed we can see how this figue then informs Peter Pan, Robin Hood, Robin the Boy Wonder. Fascinating.

Hello Adam, made my head spin too:) Sometimes I was starting to think: No, this all just CAN'T be, it is too crazy to be true, but on the other hand, it is too crazy to NOT. Many people have said many things about the single versions of phenomenons. In all this trickster/ demon researches there is especially one little factor that keeps me going. Amonst other things I had UFO experiences, seen a demonic face on a person that died soon after (and coincidally that happened a day before I took my son to the Warner Brother Park to visit Batman), and I had this experience thats called 'Old Hag terror'(hag = Hagezusse = original word for Hexe (Witch) and descirbes a ghost thats not allowed to come beyond the fences becasue it is known to attack people. We say "Albdrücken" from 'Alptraum'(=nightmare). Mr. David Hufford has written an excellent book about it and estimated that 20% of people do experience an old hag at least once in their life. The french professor Lecouteux has explained, that the Old Hag kinda creature has developed in the western parts of europe - parallel to the eastern vampire beliefs. In fact, these hags (incubus) attack and probably suck blood or life energy. So, whoever has experienced this sort of demon, knows, theyre not a halluzination. Personally I consider Ledger to have had a similar experience, maybe even a life full of paranormal troubles. I don't know whats going on but it is both, terrifying and fascinating.

Greetings, Corinna

I would just like to say that I wasted the past hour of my life reading through this blog.

Every single so-called "fascinating connection" is absolutely and utterly retarded.

All these "eerie connections" make next to zero sense. They are a HUUUUGE reach and any normal, intelligent human being can see right through that.

I truely pity all you morons who believe in this B.S.

Heath Ledger was clearly a troubled guy. Believe it or not, people like that exist in this world. He was not some doomed individual from the start who's deal was sealed by potraying The Joker.

The Joker is an absolute. He is a comic book character. He is not some demonic imp of Satan. It's a comic book movie. It's not some allusion to satanic, ghoulish non-sense. It's a Batman movie for crying out loud. Get a grip on reality.

As for the image of him being hanged. Guess what? It was a role in a movie. Eerie connection? If you're a moron. Everyone dies. Alot of actors have potrayed characters in movies who do die. And guess what? Eventually they themselves die. It happens. Its called life.

The fact is, tragedies happen. People die. Stop binging on cheetos and spending hours on end searching for lame connections to try and justify his death. You may think you're intelligent for finding this "mind-blowing, head-spinning connections and coincidences" but in reality, you're absolutely idiotic.

Get a life. Go see and enjoy The Dark Knight. Respect Ledger's career and let him rest in peace. Stop being morons and once again, for the love of everything holy, get a life.

Funny, it kind of matches what I just thought, for not liking to be called moron or idiot: You did not only waste one hour of your ignorant life by reading all this, it does indeed sound like your whole life is a wasted one. Argh!

Heath Ledger's final appearance on the Ellen Degeneres show, juggling oranges and being attacked by a crow on a bobsled, was on February 13, 2006. Wiki mentions other notable significance of this date:
it is the 44th day of the year in the Gregorian calendar- 321 days remaining in a non-leap year. On that day in 1542, Catherine Howard, the fifth wife of Henry VIII was executed on the grounds of adultery/treason. Even weirder and more significantly, on Feb 13, 1692, the Massacre of Glencoe: "About 78 Macdonalds at Glen Coe, Scotland, are killed early in the morning for not promptly pledging allegiance to the new king, William of Orange."

Which ties in the 44, the oranges, & the clowns nicely.

Does anybody have a lead on the symbol on Ellen's sweater?

Oh, nevermind, Ellen's sweater is obviously a stylized compass-and-square. Duh.

I was just looking at harvey dents campaign poster - I BELIEVE in harvey dent. Could this be a reflection of Obama, a change we can BELIEVE in? The fact that Harvey Dent is secretly called Two-face and then becomes, two faced and evil it disturbing especially if this fortells what will happen with Obama.
